Quatuor Voce

Quatuor Voce who featured at this year’s West Wicklow Festival, are a French quartet recognized internationally as one of the most fascinating string quartets performing worldwide. Their programme  for the West Wicklow Festival included Edge by Rhona Clarke – a six minute piece of pure tension, it builds in hovering sequences then releases in the last section through a series of collapsing, down-sliding effects – thrilling and beautifully delivered by Quatuor Voce.

This is the third year of the West Wicklow Festival, so it’s what we might call ‘young’ – and what a feast of music it offered. Trio Atanassov were spirited, subtle, rich. Australian soprano Lauren Fagan gave an exhilarating performance, if it had been possible I’d have gone to every concert on the programme over the full five days.
